SEGA has released a 12-minute gameplay demo for Stranger Than Heaven at Gamescom 2026, showcasing the combat system and distinct visual styles of different time periods.
The game follows Makoto Daito — founder of the Tojo Clan — across 50 years of his life, split into five time periods each set in a different city with its own distinct visual aesthetic. The demo covers three of them:
- Kokura, 1915 — where Makoto's story begins after moving from America to Japan
- Kure, 1929 — an older Makoto keeps order on the streets and clashes with a rival Yakuza faction
- Minami district, Osaka, 1943 — in the middle of World War 2, Makoto builds his music business while still fighting off enemies
Stranger Than Heaven launches January 15, 2027 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, including Game Pass.
