The staff of the 31st Union studio, with the support of the publisher 2K, presented Project ETHOS - the project is described as a "heroic free-to-play third-person shooter with roguelike elements."
Project ETHOS differs from other team shooters with its unique mutation mechanics, which allows changing the abilities of characters in each individual match. It is stated that gamers will be able to retrain a sniper into a melee fighter, a support hero into a tank, and so on. Thanks to this, the standard shooter is diluted with the construction of various builds, and the mutations acquired by players can radically change the balance of power on the battlefield. The heroes will fight for the so-called "cores", which unlock new skills.
Right now, the developers are running a limited-time test. As part of the tests, players are offered to try out two modes: Trials with a continuous fight for cores, and Gauntlet with matches designed for team play. The tests are active until October 20 in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
Project ETHOS is being developed for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The release date is unknown.
