From August 19th through September 9th, Apex Legends is hosting three weeks of mayhem called "Galactic Games." Developers have added fresh mechanics with the same name to the "Joker" mode, along with new items and the chance to add a universal melee weapon to your collection — the "Grand Slam" bat.
A Bat That Knocks Opponents Out of the Ring
During the event, legends can wield the "Grand Slam" — a heavy bat that's available without unlocks in "Joker" mode. It not only deals massive damage but also knocks enemies back. After three successful hits, the effect amplifies and can affect multiple opponents at once.
Players can obtain both a temporary version for the event mode and a permanent universal one that remains in inventory after the event ends. It can be customized with exotic shards: three different skins and a unique death box are available.
Game-Changing Bonuses
The event's main addition is special items called "jokers" that can be crafted in replicators. They provide various combat advantages:
- "Mad Rush" — quick forward dash
- "Recharge" — shield restoration while running
- "Personal Space" — enhanced knockback in close combat
- "Hard Hit" — increased melee damage
- "Status Report" — reveals enemies when downed
- "Wall Running" — the fan-requested ability to run on walls
- "Quick Charge" — accelerated tactical and ultimate ability cooldowns
Joker slots unlock at the start of the first three rounds, allowing strategy customization mid-match. Developers promise the mechanic will remain in the game and receive updates.
Event Skins and Rewards
The "Galactic Games" reward shop will feature legendary skins for Seer, Sparrow, Gibraltar and other heroes, weapon skins for the R-301, Flatline and other guns, plus four event badges. All items are available in bundles, where one slot contains event loot and two others hold standard items. No duplicates appear in bundles.
Fixes and Known Issues
The latest patch eliminated bugs with merit display, improved booster functionality, auras, and Bangalore's tactical abilities. Replicator interaction in "Joker" mode after landing has been fixed. Up next are fixes for loot box bugs, challenge progress, and "Collection" functionality.
The battle royal Apex Legends is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
