Ascenders: Beyond the Peak Announced — A Turn-Based Roguelite About Climbing

Ascenders Beyond The Peak

Twin Sails Interactive and Ludogram have announced Ascenders: Beyond the Peak, a turn-based exploration roguelite about leading a climbing expedition up a cursed mountain. The game launches in Early Access on PC via Steam in Q3 2026, with console versions planned for later.

Players lead a team of climbers tackling a mountain full of mysterious and deadly threats. Every lost expedition member takes resources and morale with them, and each tragedy leaves a mark on survivors — making every subsequent step harder.

The rope system is central to gameplay: players can secure teammates, pull them out of danger, or in extreme situations, cut the rope to save the rest of the group. That decision costs resources and inflicts lasting psychological damage on survivors. Route choices carry similar weight — saving one climber may close off paths for others.

Environmental hazards include icy slopes, unstable scree, toxic vegetation, and avalanches. The mountain itself functions as an active opponent.

Three climber classes make up the roster: the Highlander pushes enemies off cliffs, the Scout uses a grappling hook for mobility, and the Sapper controls territory with explosives and firearms. Combining their abilities creates powerful synergies.

Artifacts from an ancient civilization can be used during the climb, spent on camp upgrades, or traded with factions. Decisions about alliances, which peaks to attempt, and when to retreat all affect reputation, the state of the world, and available endings.
