Assassin’s Creed Shadows World Trailer

Assassin's Creed Shadows

Ubisoft has released a video for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, in which the viewer is invited to feel the atmosphere of the local world. Also, in a recent interview for Eurogamer, the game’s art director Thierry Dansereau responded to criticism of the project.

The trailer focuses on weather effects, sounds, and local landscapes with the changing seasons. It also gives a glimpse of costume details and the daily life of feudal Japan.

Meanwhile, the game's audience remains divided into two camps: some are not averse to playing as the black samurai Yasuke, while others complain that this character was added only because of the demands of inclusivity.

That's what Eurogamer editor-in-chief Tom Phillips asked Dansereau about. For context, Dansereau is a series veteran. He started with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and then headed up the art department on Revelations, Syndicate, and Odyssey.

Here's what he had to say about Yasuke: "Of course, it was a creative decision. After all, it is a video game, we want to create the best experience for players. In order to understand this time period well, we worked with many experts. A lot of work has been done, and we are sure that we depict this world with all due respect, but at the same time without compromising the gameplay, which should be interesting."

The developer added that the social media buzz around the game is not always a bad thing. However, there are people who were upset by the attacks of "haters". Dansereau also recalled that consultants from Osaka and Tokyo were involved in the project.

Assassin's Creed Shadows will be released on November 15 on PC (EGS, Ubisoft Connect), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Ubisoft+ subscribers and owners of the Gold Edition and Ultimate Edition will be able to play three days earlier.
