Aviation Simulator Aces of Thunder from Gaijin Launches February 3, 2026

Aces Of Thunder

Gaijin Entertainment announced the release date for Aces of Thunder — an air combat simulator with virtual reality support. The game launches February 3, 2026, playable both in VR and traditional flat-screen mode.

Realism and Immersion Focus

The project emphasizes deep immersion and realism. Developers use flight models and damage systems familiar from War Thunder, adapting them to a cockpit-view focused format. Players can control aircraft using HOTAS, gamepad, or VR controllers.

Extensive Aircraft Selection

Aces of Thunder offers an impressive aircraft selection — not thousands of military vehicles, but plenty of variety nonetheless. The game features over 20 WW2 aircraft including P-51 Mustang, Bf 109, Fw 190, Il-2, Yak-9T, Spitfire, and A6M3 Zero. WW1 fighters are also represented, from Fokker Dr.I to SPAD S.13 flown by Entente ace René Fonck.

15 Historical Maps

Battles unfold across 15 maps covering key military theaters. Players will visit Western and Eastern Europe, the Pacific region, and WW1 fronts. Each location recreates the characteristic conditions of specific regions and eras.

Online and Solo Gameplay

Aces of Thunder offers both online battles and solo missions for skill practice. Between sorties, players can inspect aircraft in the hangar, study cockpits, and prepare for upcoming combat.

Built for VR, Works Without It

Developers placed special emphasis on VR. OpenXR support enables use of a wide range of VR headsets. The project was designed with VR in mind but remains accessible to classic flight simulator fans without specialized VR equipment.

Showcase true aerial mastery in Aces of Thunder on PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5.
