Baldur's Gate 3: Cross-Play, Photo Mode, and 12 New Subclasses in 2025

Baldurs Gate 3

Larian Studios is soon bidding farewell to Baldur’s Gate 3, but before that, the team will release one more major update. Today, the Belgian developers shared details about its content.

Baldurs Gate 3 Crossplay
  • The eighth patch is set to launch in 2025 and will introduce the following features:
  • Cross-play: Cross-platform play will be available on all devices, requiring an account with Larian Network.

12 new subclasses: One for each class, featuring new abilities, animations, visual effects, tricks, and summoned creatures. Unique voiced lines will also be added for the Oathbreaker Paladin. The list of subclasses includes:

  1. Bard — "College of Charm"
  2. Barbarian — "Path of Giants"
  3. Cleric — "Domain of Death"
  4. Druid — "Circle of Stars"
  5. Paladin — "Oath of the Crown"
  6. Fighter — "Mystic Archer"
  7. Monk — "Drunken Master"
  8. Ranger — "Beastmaster"
  9. Rogue — "Duelist"
  10. Sorcerer — "Shadow Magic"
  11. Warlock — "Witchblade"
  12. Wizard — "Blade Song"
  • Photo mode: The team is preparing a wealth of settings that will allow players to adjust the camera angle, perspective, depth of field, and focus. Players can hide unphotogenic NPCs, change character poses and facial expressions, and add post-effects, frames, and stickers.
  • Various fixes.

In early January, Larian will conduct a stress test of the update on all platforms. Before testing begins, applications for participation will open. Details will be revealed in an upcoming article from the developers.

Additionally, Larian once again highlighted the popularity of mods for Baldur’s Gate 3. In just three months, the community has uploaded over 3,000 modifications and downloaded them more than 70 million times. In the future, the studio plans to enhance the modding tools with new features.
