Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement Delayed to 2027

Bloodstained The Scarlet Engagement

505 Games and ArtPlay have announced that Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is moving from 2026 to 2027. ArtPlay co-founder Koji Igarashi confirmed the game has reached its final stages of production, and four new screenshots have been shared alongside the announcement.

The game is set in 16th-century England, where a demonic lord named Elias has unleashed an ethereal castle that terrorizes the surrounding lands. All attempts by the Kingdom and the Holy Church to destroy it have failed. Two protagonists are drawn together: Leonard Brandon, a young hunter from the church's Black Wolves clan, and Alexander Kaiteler, a knight and the only survivor of the first failed assault.

Both Leo and Alex are fully playable protagonists. The game features a dual-character system for combat, trap navigation, resource gathering, and crafting — armor sets are visually reflected on character models. Local co-op is also supported.

The map is larger than Ritual of the Night. A day-night cycle affects how players interact with the world. The Scarlet Engagement is designed as a standalone entry point into the Bloodstained series, though longtime fans will find deeper connections to the franchise.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is coming to PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
