Texas-based studio Steel Mantis, with support from publisher Silver Lining Interactive, has released a demo for its gory action-platformer Slain 2: The Beast Within. Alongside the demo launch, the developers dropped a new trailer and announced that the game will be coming not only to PC, but also to current-gen consoles.
The sequel to Slain: Back from Hell follows the story of Prince Akran—the last Wolf Guard—who arms himself with the sentient sword Bathoryn and embarks on a perilous journey to save his realm from the demonic forces of Lord Vroll. As you might guess from the trailer and screenshots, the protagonist is a werewolf. Under the influence of the moon, Akran transforms into a bloodthirsty beast and shreds enemies with his claws.
"Akran's path is fraught with danger. Endure three brutal trials—each featuring sinister landscapes, a twisted world, and nightmarish foes. Sail across spectral seas, storm haunted castles, and descend into the abyss to claim sacred relics: The Eye, The Heart, and The Dagger.
Vanquish monstrous entities spawned from the bottomless depths of this world. Battle ancient spirits, cunning witches, sorcerers of the abyss, and unimaginable beasts in thrilling showdowns that will push your limits to the edge. Explore the ruins of a once-mighty kingdom. From the grim streets of Wolftown to foggy highlands and cursed catacombs, every location drips with gothic atmosphere, and death lurks around every corner.
Hesitate no longer. The fate of Akran and the entire realm rests in your hands. The hunt is on."

Slain 2: The Beast Within is in development for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release is planned for later this year, though an exact date has not yet been announced.
