H2M is a fan modification that was supposed to restore the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, released in 2009.
The mod was planned to be released for the 2016 remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Multiplayer was not included in the updated version of the sequel.
Among other things, fans have prepared more than 50 maps and the entire progression system from Modern Warfare 2.
H2M was supposed to be released on August 16th, and many Call of Duty fans were waiting for the mod. Modern Warfare Remastered even made it into the top sales on Steam thanks to the imminent release of the modification.
However, on August 15, the H2M developers received a warning letter from Activision and announced that they were closing the project. The publisher himself did not comment on the media appeals at the time of publication of the note.
Players were left disappointed by Activision's decision and encouraged each other to issue returns for the game on Steam if possible.
Review bombing of Modern Warfare Remastered has also begun on Valve's platform, with recent reviews of the game becoming "extremely negative."
