World's Edge announced The Baltic Powers DLC for Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition back in February 2024, then cancelled it in January 2025. After a community petition gathered nearly 6,000 signatures, the studio reversed course — the expansion is back and launches September 10 on Steam and Microsoft Store.
An open beta is already live on Steam and runs until August 6.
The DLC adds two new civilizations: the Poles and the Danes. The Poles feature powerful cavalry, reduced building costs, and bonuses to civic technologies. The Danes focus on economic flexibility, naval control, and layered defense.
Additional content includes new challenge scenarios, new game modes, 50+ hero customizations, and 25+ maps including historical scenarios covering the Livonian War and the Wars of the Three Crowns.
The current free trial of Age of Empires 3 on Steam ends August 13.
