Civilization 7 Gameplay Demonstration

Civilization 7 Main

Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 will be released on February 11, 2025. Firaxis showed a gameplay trailer at Gamescom and published a 20-minute analysis of the game listing changes in mechanics.

We collected the most interesting details:

  • The developers are preparing the largest and most ambitious game in the series. For the first time, Civilization will be released simultaneously on PC and consoles.
  • The in-game narrator is given her voice by British actress Gwendoline Christie, who previously played the role of Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones. It is noteworthy that in the last part of the series, an actor from this show, Shaun Bean, was also behind the microphone. Christie even got her own trailer.
  • The key difference between the new part and its predecessors is that the player no longer leads one specific civilization to prosperity. Now, during a change in the era of development, you need to choose a new people, whose bonuses and traits are better suited for further play.
  • Each era will have its own specific civilizations, technologies, neutral forces on the global map and more. So the developers want to solve a problem that has been plaguing the series for many years, when some civilizations are strong at an early stage, while others are revealed only in later eras.
  • Activities in the previous era and technologies researched will affect who can be chosen in the next.
  • The game will feature three eras: antiquity, the age of discovery, and modernity.
  • The developers will expand the list of leaders, which will now include not only outstanding statesmen, but also great philosophers and scientists of their time.
  • Leaders can now be combined with any civilization, but for those who like the historical approach, there is a filter that will tell you the origin of a particular character.
  • As civilization develops, leaders will be upgraded in various ways, be it by completing special tasks or success in research.
  • The developers have improved the graphics and tried to add more details to cities and unit models.
  • The mechanics of the battle will not change, but the studio tried to add liveliness to the movements of the armies when they converge on the battlefield.
  • American composer Christopher Tin, who already has a Grammy Award in his treasury, is again in charge of the music.
  • A 2K account is required to play online. Matches for the Ancient and Discovery eras involve five players, while matches for the modern era involve eight users.

2K and Firaxis have launched pre-orders for the strategy. Sid Meier's Civilization 7 Standard Edition costs $69.99, Deluxe Edition costs $99.99, and Founders Edition costs $129.99. The $279.99 Collection includes an authentic game-themed decorative table clock, a scout figurine, an art book, and smaller items.

Sid Meier's Civilization 7 will be released on all platforms on February 11, 2025. You can purchase the game for PC (Steam, EGS), Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
