Pearl Abyss has released a six-and-a-half-minute overview trailer for Charting the Unknown, the Crimson Desert expansion that launches next week. It walks through what the DLC adds.
The expansion includes three new storylines that pick up after the main campaign and follow Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane.
- Sailing unlocks once players finish the “Wolf Hill” quest. Each of the three protagonists can build a ship and hunt for treasure across the archipelago. Naval combat, underwater exploration, and port development are also part of the package, along with other activities at sea.
- Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane can now grow close to certain characters in Pywel, and some of those friendships can turn into romance or even marriage. Festivals are part of this update too, and friendly NPCs will occasionally drop by the player’s camp to start new events.
- Housing goes beyond the camp. Players can build and customize their own homes from scratch after completing the “Luke’s Request” mission in the “Lands of Dawn” questline. There are also three Greymane castles to capture and customize. Once players have liberated regions and built up the Greymane camp, they can rent and run businesses such as restaurants and blacksmith shops.
- The Garden of Trials is a new combat mode that unlocks after the main story. It lets players refight bosses they’ve already beaten for special rewards.
Charting the Unknown launches October 29. Crimson Desert is out now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S with Russian text localization, and a Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned.
