Koreans from Pearl Abyss gave journalists a chance to try their fantasy action adventure Crimson Desert. Now, 50 minutes of gameplay of the project have been posted online, and journalists have shared their impressions.
The large gameplay demo gives a glimpse into cutscenes, exploration, and combat. The player will be able to move around the world on horseback. You can jump off high cliffs and glide with magic. There is also a boss fight in the video.
A video with impressions directly from the gameplay appeared on the IGN YouTube channel. Below are the most interesting details:
- The combat system is something between God of War and Dragon’s Dogma.
- In the local open world, like in the latest Assassin’s Creed, there are camps, castles and outposts scattered everywhere that you can infiltrate. At the same time, the main character Cliff can change into specific suits that allow you to easily pass through the main gates and guards.
- The plot will be large-scale and epic. The main character does not just clear outposts, but saves the world or even the entire multiverse from the forces of chaos.
- You can eliminate enemies in stealth mode with one blow.
- The side quests pleasantly surprised the IGN author. They have intersecting plots and complement each other, building a common narrative.
- The game has a lot of boss fights, but you shouldn’t classify it as a soulslike.
- If the battle is against a colossal enemy, the camera zooms out from the character, expanding the view of the battlefield. Such battles are more like puzzles, the author of IGN compares Shadow of the Colossus. The graphics in the game look decent, the particles and animations in the battle scenes are well-designed
Unfortunately, the gameplay demo doesn't include a release date announcement. Crimson Desert is set to release on PC and as-yet-unnamed consoles.
