Earlier this year, the roguelike Darkest Dungeon 2 introduced a new Kingdom mode, which has been receiving additional content updates over the past several months. By the end of August, developers at Red Hook Studios prepared the final content package as part of the major Curse of the Court patch, currently available only on PC and macOS. The console release will follow shortly.
The Curse of the Court update brings back the familiar bloodsuckers from the Crimson Court, which players may remember from the original Darkest Dungeon DLC. While battling against their curse, players will explore new maps and attempt to complete fresh quests.
To celebrate the update's release, the developers have launched a free weekend on Steam — from today through September 1st, Darkest Dungeon 2 can be played at no cost. All progress is saved, so new users can seamlessly continue their adventure after purchasing the game. Additionally, the Steam version of Darkest Dungeon 2 is available at a 63% discount through September 11th.
Content support for the game doesn't end here. In the near future, developers plan to release major updates featuring hero rebalancing, with the Barbarian and Leper being the primary focus. Furthermore, a physical edition for PS5 and Switch is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year.
Darkest Dungeon 2 is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The title currently holds a 75% rating on Valve's storefront.
