Red Hook Studios has shared its plans for the rest of 2024. In the fourth quarter, the roguelike Darkest Dungeon 2 will receive a free update with a new Kingdoms mode, as well as the Inhuman Bondage DLC.
In "Kingdoms" the project will return to its roots. The mode is a campaign where a squad of heroes moves between "rooms", which now act as taverns, settlements and other locations. And there the squad will already be waiting for a fight, a random event, resources or a boss.
The campaign is divided into three modules, each dedicated to one faction. They will be released gradually, and the first will be Hunger Of The Beast Clan. The main enemy in these adventures will be a race of ugly beastmen.
Inhuman Bondage will open access to a new region, the Catacombs, with its own quests, new enemy types, weapons, and other items. It can be visited both in Kingdoms and in standard mode. Also, DLC owners will get a new hero with his own backstory and unique mechanics in their squad.
