Darkest Dungeon Gets First Major DLC in Years — Heroes From the Sequel Arrive August 18

Darkest Dungeon Update

Red Hook Studios has announced The Fire's Edge, the first major DLC for the original Darkest Dungeon since 2020, launching August 18.

The expansion brings two heroes from Darkest Dungeon 2 to the first game: the Duelist and the Runaway. The Duelist shifts freely between positions in the party and toggles between offensive and defensive stances. The Runaway relies on mobility, stealth, and introduces a brand new damage type to the original game — fire. A burn mechanic arrives alongside her, previously absent from Darkest Dungeon 1.

The artifact system is also being reworked with new properties including limited-use items and other effects. Three new buildings come to the Hamlet: the Duello Academy, a workshop, and an archaeologist camp.

Red Hook has confirmed that Darkest Dungeon 2 will also receive a new DLC in early 2027.

Darkest Dungeon is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG), Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and iOS.
