Season 14 of Diablo 4, titled Season of Death's Awakening, launches June 30. A new threat looms over Sanctuary as a sinister cult performs dark rituals across the land.
New Season Mechanic: Pandemonium Rifts
Travelers head to Zarbinzet to investigate the cult, which appears responsible for magical rifts erasing the boundary between Sanctuary and Pandemonium. Three rift types are available: standard rifts that appear across Sanctuary and frequently during Hellburst events; yawning rifts that can open during any local Hellburst event; and colossal rifts found exclusively on the Desecrated Fields arena southeast of Zarbinzet. Keeping rifts open longer yields more rewards. Closing rifts earns Glimmers of Hope — special materials for unlocking rewards on the Zarbinzet reputation board.
A new enemy type called the Risen includes grave hounds that drop orbs on death, which power up the Exarch — a special Risen enemy that draws nearby orbs to complete a powerful attack. Players need to intercept them first.
In Zarbinzet, players can find a path to the Pandemonium Verge — lair of the Corrupted Reaper. After defeating her in the story quest, players can fight her repeatedly to earn Epochal Unique items or Pandemonium Shards for upgrading them.
Epochal Unique Item System Overhaul
Any unique item can now be Epochal — it's no longer a rarity tier but an upgradeable quality. Unique items can be transformed into Epochal versions via the Horadric Cube or a jeweler. Epochal Unique items are always Ancestral, unique properties are boosted by 30%, and all other properties roll at maximum values. Only one crafted Epochal Unique can be equipped at a time; others must be found in the world. All unique, Epochal Unique, and Uber Unique items now have two guaranteed properties.
World Slayers return from the most dangerous Pandemonium Rifts. Defeating one opens access to a Burial Vault — a single-room dungeon that can also reward keys to the seasonal boss's vault.
Ranked Tables and The Gauntlet exit beta this season with new cosmetic rewards. Separate leaderboards are being added for standard and Hardcore characters in Solo Self-Found mode. Solo Self-Found characters cannot group with others, trade items, or access the Dark Citadel, and cannot revert to normal status until the season ends.
Free Warlock Trial runs June 30–July 7, letting all players try the Warlock class up to level 30 without purchasing Lord of Hatred.
Overwatch Crossover: defeating special monsters and guardian enemies earns Overwatch Eye currency, redeemable for legendary cosmetics in a free Overwatch Reliquary — including two emblems, a vehicle trophy, three weapon skins, and an Overwatch-themed dye. Completing the reliquary unlocks Kiriko's quick fox spirit. Exclusive Overwatch skins are also available in Tejal's shop.
