Developers at id Software have released the second major update for DOOM: The Dark Ages, treating fans to a fresh dose of free content.
The main addition is "The Ripatorium" — an endless arena mode that players can customize to their liking. Players can choose from three locations and various combat scenario settings, including enemy spawns and battle conditions. Beyond that, the update includes:
- Two new skins for the Doom Slayer — the first can be unlocked simply by playing DOOM: The Dark Ages before September 1st, while the second requires completing all three "Ripatorium" maps.
- Minor expansions to difficulty settings.
- Enhanced benchmark testing for performance checks under different conditions.
- Bug fixes, global campaign rebalancing, and enemy AI adjustments.
- Gameplay improvements not only for the Slayer himself, but also for the mech and dragon systems.
DOOM: The Dark Ages is available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, as well as through Game Pass subscription. Currently, it holds an 86% rating on Steam based on over 17,000 reviews. To celebrate the second update's release, the game is temporarily discounted by 25%.
