Embark Studios Already Plotting Two New Titles Alongside ARC Raiders

ARC Raiders

Embark Studios, the team behind The Finals and the upcoming extraction shooter ARC Raiders, has confirmed it's cooking up two brand-new projects in the conceptual stages. One reportedly pushes boundaries with an edgier approach, while the other takes a more traditional route. Don't expect reveals anytime soon though—both are likely years away, especially with ARC Raiders dropping October 30 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

From DICE to Embark

Patrick Soderlund founded Embark Studios in 2018 after departing EA, bringing along a crew of DICE veterans. The studio's debut, The Finals, launched in 2023 as a free-to-play FPS featuring fully destructible environments and game-show-style team combat. Despite launching to massive player counts, reviews were initially mixed. The game has since turned things around, earning positive Steam reviews and receiving consistent content drops for the past two years.

What's Next for Embark?

Speaking with The Game Business, CEO Patrick Soderlund addressed questions about the studio's pipeline and whether they're sticking with online games in today's "high risk" market. "That, I think, is just ingrained in our DNA," Soderlund said. "That doesn't mean that they're online games in the same way as The Finals or ARC Raiders."

He revealed one concept leans into riskier territory with more "edge" compared to their current titles, while the other plays it safer with a conventional approach.

ARC Raiders Still the Priority

For those hyped about ARC Raiders, no need to worry—the extraction shooter has ambitious post-launch support planned. Embark's ditching traditional seasonal content models in favor of substantial updates released when ready, including new maps, Arcs, balance changes, bug fixes, quests, and more.

Following a massively successful playtest earlier this month, ARC Raiders looks poised to make serious waves in the extraction shooter space. But competition's heating up—Escape From Tarkov, the genre's undisputed king, hits Steam November 15, just two weeks after ARC Raiders launches.
