At the beginning of the year, independent studio Keen Games released an early version of Enshrouded, a fantasy survival game with action RPG elements. After a successful launch, the authors began working on patches, and just yesterday the game received its fourth global update called Souls of the Frozen Frontier.
The biggest update to date, Enshrouded, offers a portion of fresh content and many improvements to the already implemented elements of the game. Among the innovations:
- Albaneve Summits is a new biome in the snowy mountains and, at the same time, the highest point on the map. Here, players will find new challenges, opponents, creatures, and abandoned settlements of a long-vanished civilization. The icy landscape is distinguished not only by its visual design, but also by harsher conditions for survival.
- New weather system - now the weather changes dynamically throughout the day in each of the available biomes.
- Improvements to NPC artificial intelligence — from now on, craftsmen will not stand at their machines 24/7. They move freely around the settlement, engage in third-party activities, and go to bed at night.
- New NPC assistants — they can be found throughout the world and placed on additional bases for quick access to crafting recipes.
- Ordinary townspeople — in addition to craftsmen, third-party characters can be invited to settlements after rescuing them. This is not just a useless crowd, as they can be given various tasks.
- Livestock system — wild animals can now be caught and bred on a farm for additional resources. In addition to wool, milk, and meat, they also produce offspring. In addition to livestock, you can have pets in the form of dogs and cats. Instead of resources, they provide bonuses to characteristics after the character pets them.
- Increased level cap to 35.
- New building materials, recipes, gear, weapons, and abilities.
- Grappling hook upgrade - now you can use the hook to pull flying enemies to you, or pull yourself to particularly large monsters. This ability unlocks during leveling up.
- Various visual improvements, bug fixes, balance adjustments, and more.
To date, the early version of Enshrouded has over 50,000 very positive reviews on Steam. A full release is planned for next year. At the same time, the game will be released on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
