FBC: Firebreak Receives First Major Update on September 29

Fbc Firebreak

Developers at Remedy Entertainment continue working hard to improve their less-than-successful cooperative shooter FBC: Firebreak. Yesterday evening, the studio announced that the game will receive its first major update called Breakpoint on September 29.

The upcoming update primarily focuses on refining gameplay based on player feedback. Detailed patch notes are available on Steam. Key highlights include:

  • Crisis Board System — replacing the old mission board system. Players are presented with carefully curated crisis situations that make gameplay more dynamic and less predictable. Four to six crises of varying scale occur across the map at any given time, with the Crisis Board refreshing every thirty minutes.
  • New "Outbreak" Crisis — a completely new mission in the research sector where mold contamination creates unique challenges, enemies, and a dangerous new status effect.
  • Five new enemy types.
  • Twenty-seven weapon modifications.
  • Three new heavy weapons (semi-automatic rifle, sawed-off shotgun, and rotary cannon) and three new grenades with different effects (freeze, healing, and blackstone).
  • Major economy overhaul — all weapons and equipment now reach maximum power upon purchase and no longer require upgrades. Gear unlocks through gameplay and leveling. Less currency will be needed to unlock cosmetics and upgrade perks.
  • Improved tutorial for newcomers.
  • Access to all Crisis Kits from level 1.
  • Sliding and prone movement for enhanced mobility and survivability.
  • Various quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and rebalancing.

The developers noted that Breakpoint is just the beginning of improving every aspect of FBC: Firebreak. Remedy currently has two more major updates planned. The Rogue Protocol update (working title subject to change) is scheduled for November, while the next major patch will arrive in March 2026.

FBC: Firebreak is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game has been included in Game Pass and PS Plus subscriptions since launch.
