Hoothanes company presented the debut gameplay trailer for its upcoming cinematic shooter The Defiant. The approximately six-minute video demonstrates actual in-game scenes, providing the first look at how developers envision the final product.
Historical Setting: 1931-1945 Sino-Japanese Conflict
The game's events unfold during the 1931-1945 period of Japanese aggression against China. Developers promise diverse locations including snow-covered forests, dangerous villages behind enemy lines, and the Taihang mountain region. The protagonist joins the resistance movement by enlisting in the North-Eastern Anti-Japanese United Army.
Extensive Historical Arsenal
Gameplay offers a wide weapon arsenal including rifles, assault rifles, pistols, and machine guns. The game features iconic weapons such as the Hanyang rifle, Mauser military pistol, MP18 submachine gun, and other models reflecting China's military history. Using this arsenal, players must fight for survival and forge paths through extremely dangerous combat zones.
Developers have not revealed The Defiant's release date. It will be available on Steam.
