The GOG team presented the GOG Preservation Program initiative, which is designed to ensure games "eternal life". The developers timed this announcement to coincide with the store's sixteenth birthday.
As of today, GOG has a special label for games that signals several things at once:
- The title is compatible with modern PCs, controllers, and resolutions.
- The company has independently rooted out critical bugs from it.
- GOG is committed to maintaining the compatibility of the marked game with modern systems for a long time. "We guarantee that they work and will continue to work," the specialists said.
The company has already improved 100 games, including Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete, Resident Evil, System Shock 2, Myst Masterpiece Edition, Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines and others. Each game marked Good Old Game is equipped with a list of changes made to it, such as support for cloud saves, additional localizations, and so on.

As noted by GOG, over time the GOG Preservation Program list will be expanded “both from our existing catalog and new classic additions.”
