Journalists from Wccftech talked to composer Kai Rosenkranz about the Gothic 1 Remake. As a reminder, in the Alkimia Interactive team, Rosenkranz is responsible not only for the updated soundtrack but also for the entire sound design of the remake. In addition, he runs a podcast together with producer Reinhard Pollice and is actively involved in the development process, which allows him to share details of the game:
- The entire world of Gothic 1 Remake will be open for exploration almost from the very beginning of the game. However, it is not recommended to go into some areas right away due to the high level of opponents.
- The maximum level of pumping is 50.
- As in the original, you can get into certain closed areas using tricks like turning into a small beetle.
- The duration of the remake is about 30 hours. To increase replayability, the authors developed some storylines and added new faction quests with different paths. You can complete side quests in any order
- Fresh content was introduced in those areas where, according to the developers, there was a lack of content. In particular, this concerns the second half of the game.
- The main plot remained unchanged.
- Access to magic in the remake will open earlier than in the original.
- Leveling up is close to the original source. As before, gamers need to find masters and pay them for training.
- The crafting system has been significantly expanded, but the best equipment in the game can still only be obtained from factions.
- The system of NPC reactions to the protagonist's actions has been improved.
- There will be no New Game + mode at release.
- Since the remake is being developed on Unreal Engine 5, it is claimed to support ray tracing with Lumen and Nanite technologies.
- In the settings, you will be able to choose the difficulty and fix the camera to the left, right or center.
- In console versions, there is a choice between quality and performance modes, taking into account the power of the PS5 Pro.
Gothic 1 Remake is planned to be released this financial year on PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
