The Dying World's action occurs three years before the first game's events. The story centers on a Teer Fradee island native forcibly taken to the Old Continent. The protagonist's quest for freedom drags them into an extensive conspiracy: save not only their island but the entire continent.

The protagonist finds allies, each with their own story, plus acquires a ship allowing exploration of the vast Gacane continent, ravaged by faction war.
