A year ago, Arrowhead Game Studios introduced an item collection for Helldivers 2 themed around Guerrilla Games' Killzone 2. Not everything went according to plan then, but developers managed to recover. Ultimately, the studio made a second attempt and unveiled a revamped Killzone collaboration.
December 18 Launch with Free Access for Previous Buyers
The Helldivers 2 x Killzone bundle releases December 18 as a legendary battle merit. The package includes items from the old set plus new additions. Importantly, equipment from this collaboration will be permanently available, priced at 1,500 super credits.
However, some won't need to pay for Helldivers 2 x Killzone. Arrowhead decided to honor everyone who purchased items from last year's Killzone collection in the Super Store — if you bought at least one such item, the new bundle is completely free. You'll only need to spend medals to unlock items. Note that equipment gifted by developers in December 2024 doesn't count.
Familiar Gear Plus New Cosmetics
The collaboration largely offers familiar property players saw last year: three guns, two armor sets (with 50% resistance to fire, acid, gas, and electric damage), plus capes and banners. New additions include paint schemes for exosuits, vehicles, hellpods, and shuttles.
Roguelite Mode in Development
But Arrowhead isn't just working on new bundles for Helldivers 2. Yesterday, responding to a fan suggestion, studio creative director Johan Pilestedt revealed his team is working on a roguelite mode for the shooter. The idea is still in prototype stage but could "fundamentally change the game." Whether they plan to implement this new mode or if it's just experimentation, Pilestedt didn't clarify.
As a reminder, Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S . A film adaptation is in development, recently attaching director Justin Lin (several Fast & Furious films) to the project.
