Arrowhead Studios has announced Escalation of Freedom, the biggest update for Helldivers 2 so far. It will add more missions, objectives, enemies and so on to the game. All changes were implemented based on gamers' wishes.
Let's briefly walk through the contents of Escalation of Freedom:
- A new 10th difficulty level called Mega Hell
- New objectives and larger enemy outposts of bots and bugs have been invented for quests, where you can get a new reward for the superbug. Many fresh quests will be available on the less dangerous combat rating as well.
- Pronzator, the big guy from the first Helldivers, will return. In his presence you won't be able to escape from bugs, so you'll have to deal with this monster first. There will also be a spore buster, which is shrouded in smoke. You will be able to notice him only when he gets close to the trooper. The alpha commander of the Terminids will also be introduced - a vicious swarm leader who will call for help without a second thought.
- The ranks of the Automatons have expanded as well. “Their ranks will be replenished, for example, with a formidable missile tank and some new bots,” Arrowhead shared.
- The swamps will look different. Everything around is covered in fog, and blackened trees obscure the light. Visibility in the area is limited, so it is important for the defenders of democracy to have a flashlight ready.
- The developers tried to solve the problem when gamers abused the function to exclude people from the squad.
- Arrowhead has also promised a number of quality improvements, including tweaking the social networking menu to make it easier to connect with friends.
The developers believe that the update will bring a lot of “great new features and long-awaited improvements”. It won't be without surprises, either. Expect delivery on PC and PS5 on August 6!
