Yesterday, Ubisoft hosted a celebratory presentation marking the 30th anniversary of the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. The headline announcement was the postponement of Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era’s early access launch. Originally slated for late this year, the new project from Unfrozen studio has now been rescheduled for 2026.
To apologize for the delay, the developers have released a demo, now available on Steam. The demo includes three game modes, a tutorial, and four factions (including the new "Schism" faction). There’s no time limit on the demo.
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is currently announced exclusively for PC.
Back to the presentation: alongside the Olden Era delay, Ubisoft unveiled several other surprises, including:
- Heroes of Might and Magic 2: Gold Edition and Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete Edition have been added to the Game Pass library. These iconic classics are now available to PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
- On October 11, Ubisoft’s official YouTube channel will premiere a documentary, Legacy of Heroes, exploring the Heroes of Might and Magic series through the perspectives of developers and fans worldwide.
- Legendary composer Paul Anthony Romero has opened pre-orders for a new vinyl collection featuring piano arrangements of music from Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
- The Polish Heroes Orchestra plans to perform 10 community-selected tracks from the Heroes of Might and Magic series. The premiere can be streamed on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel on October 24.
- Archon has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound for Heroes of Might and Magic: The Card Game, a new card game based on the beloved franchise. Simultaneously, Modiphius Entertainment has started a Kickstarter campaign for a Heroes of Might and Magic tabletop role-playing game.
- Game designer Neal Hallford is set to release Heroes of Might and Magic: 30th Anniversary Retrospective, a book offering a detailed look at the franchise’s history from its origins to today. Hallford includes previously unpublished illustrations, documents, and interviews. The book launches November 25, with pre-orders available through Dark Horse’s website.
Finally, Fusion Fantasy, creators of highly detailed action figures, showcased their work on Heroes of Might and Magic. They are currently developing figures for the Archangel and Black Dragon.
