Playground Games is in no hurry to show pure gameplay of the new Fable, and it is also avoiding detailed stories about the game for now. As a result, fans of the series can only rely on leaks and information from insiders. The day before, Windows Central reporter Jez Corden just poured out new information.
According to him, he recently saw an alpha version of Fable gameplay. "I don’t know when it was made, or if it was a long time ago or not. I don’t know if they’re going to show it anytime soon, but it looked pretty damn cool!" Corden said. After seeing it, he began to look forward to the title even more. Below are the main points:
- The journalist believes that Fable has the "DNA of CD Projekt RED" sewn into it, saying that it’s pretty easy to see where the combat system comes from. Let’s recall that Playground Games hired several CDPR employees, including senior game designer Paweł Kapała, who stayed at PG from 2021 to 2023.
- "I'm not saying that the game is 100% copied from The Witcher 3, because it's not," the journalist emphasized, but noted that close combat with pirouettes, dodges, rolls, and more still resembles the combat system of the third "Witcher." The battles from the "alpha" looked very polished, so "now they can be even better."
- During skirmishes, you can use different types of attacks and switch between them on the go (as Geralt did). After waving a sword, you can easily switch to a bow and arrows or cast a spell. In the video, one of these spells lifted a group of enemies into the air and slammed them to the ground.
- Among the enemies, there is a huge chicken and a werewolf, who had to be lured out of his lair with a fragrant portion of bacon and eggs.
- Fable has many weapon options. For example, you can swing a large mallet.
- At Summer Game Fest, an insider heard that the game will allow you to choose between a male or female protagonist.
- The fragment with the demonstration of the "alpha" itself looked like a so-called "vertical slice". Therefore, Corden suggested that a new public showing is just around the corner. Perhaps they will prepare something for The Game Awards.
Fable will be released in 2025 on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series. The game will also be included in the Game Pass catalog.
