Publisher Microids and studio Breakfirst Games have announced King of Tokyo — a digital adaptation of Richard Garfield's popular board game. Release is planned for spring 2026 on PC and consoles.
Dice-Rolling Monster Mayhem
In King of Tokyo, players control giant monsters attempting to capture the city. Like the original, everything revolves around dice rolls: successful combinations allow healing, attacking, purchasing cards, or earning victory points. To win, either reach 20 points first or outlast everyone else.
Single-Player and Local Multiplayer
The game features single-player mode and local multiplayer for up to five players. Battle AI opponents of varying difficulty or engage in heated competition with friends. Each match remains unpredictable: monsters like Gigazaur, Cyber Kitty, or Alienoid possess unique abilities, while the powerful card collection changes each game's tempo and style.
Developers promise the card system will make every attempt at becoming King of Tokyo special — even when playing with the same monster roster.
Players can clash with giant kitties, lizards, and feathered monsters on PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
