Active support for Baldur's Gate 3 may have officially ended, but that doesn't mean Larian Studios has stopped working on the game. The 34th hotfix has arrived, bringing the usual bug fixes and error corrections. The team paid special attention to Steam Deck — Valve's handheld PC now has its own dedicated BG3 build with improved performance.
Before this hotfix, Baldur's Gate 3 ran on Steam Deck through the Proton compatibility layer. This put additional load on the CPU, causing several unpleasant issues like inconsistent framerates and blurry resolution. All of these problems can now be avoided with a build optimized specifically for the portable PC.
The native Steam Deck build is now the default mode on the handheld. Players can still switch back to Proton if desired. Save files and mods won't be lost in the transition. If any issues arise, instructions for transferring saves and mods can be found here.
The hotfix includes other useful improvements as well. Model streaming has been enhanced across all platforms, which should reduce framerate drops in heavily loaded areas. Several cinematics have been fixed, and crashes on Xbox Series consoles have been resolved.
Baldur's Gate 3 continues to demonstrate Larian's commitment to post-launch support, ensuring the best possible experience across all platforms.
