CI Games and Hexworks have released a new gameplay demo for Lords of the Fallen 2, focused entirely on combat in the Umbral — the otherworldly dimension inhabited by the undead.
As in the first game, players will shift between the realms of the living and the dead to overcome obstacles and unlock new paths. The developers have reworked the Umbral significantly for the sequel: the realm will be more varied and will play a bigger role in the story. The timer that previously pressured players to leave the Umbral quickly has been removed — instead, threat levels escalate based on the protagonist's actions.
The story picks up 100 years after the events of the reboot. Players once again take on the role of a Dark Crusader, this time facing an immortal god rather than demons, with the goal of freeing humanity and saving the last surviving kingdom from the forces of darkness. The developers are promising deadly bosses, a dynamic combat system with dismemberment, multiple classes, dark locations, and a deep arsenal of gear.
Lords of the Fallen 2 is planned for release this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Epic Games Store.
