Loulan: The Cursed Sand — Sand-Wielding Skeleton Warrior Action-RPG

Loulan The Cursed Sand

Chinese studio ChillyRoom has officially unveiled Loulan: The Cursed Sand, an action-RPG developed with support from PlayStation's China Hero Project. The game now has its first screenshots and trailer.

Journey Through a Lost Kingdom

Set in China's western regions along the ancient Silk Road, Loulan: The Cursed Sand follows a resurrected royal guard on a quest to find his missing princess. Players will traverse the vanished kingdom of Loulan, solving puzzles and cutting down anyone who stands in their way. Expect enemies ranging from frost-covered spiders from the western territories to members of the royal family wielding the power of the sun.

Sand and Bone Combat

The protagonist returns to the land of the living as a skeleton capable of shifting between two forms: sand and bone. The sand form grants mastery over desert elements, while the bone form excels at mowing down hordes of enemies. With its top-down camera perspective, Loulan channels serious Diablo vibes.

Inspired by Real History

The developers drew inspiration from mummies discovered in the Taklamakan Desert near Loulan and the region's stark sand-swept landscapes. This area was once home to a thriving nation and crucial Silk Road waypoint before desertification led to its abandonment during the Tang Dynasty.

Release Info

Loulan: The Cursed Sand is in development for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and PlayStation 5. No release date has been announced yet.
