Monster Hunter Wilds: Fighting and Exploration Overview

Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom has released several videos looking at the core mechanics and weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds. Gamers will be able to ride on horseback, use a grappling hook, swing a huge sword and more.

Each monster hunter has a weapon, such as a two-handed sword. Its owner carries out slow but powerful attacks, and can also parry or block damage. When the sword is put behind the back, the hero moves faster and is free to use items such as healing potions. When the blade is naked, it can be used, but the movement options are limited.

To deal with the enemy faster, the focus mode will come in handy - it will highlight the wounds and vulnerable spots of the beast. Strikes to them cause more damage. In addition, in this stance, the hero will attack and defend himself more accurately. You just need to point the camera to the right place.

Hunters also need a mount, which in Monster Hunter Wilds is the feathered Seikret, which looks like a cross between an ostrich and a lizard. The mount can always be summoned by whistling. Seikret not only carries the hero with his luggage, but also helps navigate the terrain - he can find the path to the current goal, be it a quest or a monster. Right from the saddle, you can collect resources, sharpen your sword, heal, and switch between primary and secondary weapons.

Each hunter's equipment includes a sling. With its help, you can throw a variety of projectiles that can be found around. The sling also has a grappling hook built into it - it will help you pick up objects at a distance and interact with the environment.

Monster Hunter Wilds will appear on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series sometime in 2025.
