Monster Hunter Wilds: Fourth Update Details and PC Version Improvement Plans

Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom planned to share Monster Hunter Wilds news on Monday, but due to tsunami threats, the broadcast was moved to today. Developers discussed the fourth major update releasing December 16, plus future development plans.

Key Update Highlights

  • New Monster — Ancient Black Dragon Gogmazios

Players can face him with squads of up to four hunters, each able to bring a companion. The mission becomes available for Hunter Rank (HR) 100+ characters after completing the "First Cry" quest.

  • Gogma Artian Weapons

Players can upgrade their rarity level 8 weapons to Gogma Artian weapons using resources dropped by Gogmazios. These items possess one randomly selected bonus skill and one group skill. Gogma enhancement allows keeping already obtained improved bonuses or completely resetting skills.

  • Armor Transcendence

Players reaching HR 100+ can enhance their armor even further. Transcendence raises limits set by Armor Sphere upgrades and strengthens gem slots on rarity level 5 and 6 armor.

  • Tempered Monster Jin Dahaad

The massive leviathan has grown even stronger. Related quests appear December 24, with time-limited trials starting January 7.

Additional Features

  • Two new support hunters — light bowgun-wielding Nadia and Griffin wielding a greatsword
  • New supplementary quests with "nine-star" monsters and opportunities to forge special equipment
  • Winter event from December 19 to January 14 with login rewards, special quests, unique dishes, and opportunities to fight alongside Nadia and Fabius

Monster Hunter Wilds Improvements Plan

PC Optimization Roadmap

After the December content update, developers will release a patch improving Steam version stability. This update aims to optimize CPU and GPU processes, reducing load by eliminating non-essential processes.

January brings a Steam patch continuing CPU/GPU optimization, adding more graphics settings and presets, improving VRAM usage and shader compilation, plus fixes to the high-quality texture pack.

February adds 3D model level-of-detail settings on PC to reduce GPU processing load.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Due to PC performance issues, the game's Valve store rating remains "Mixed" — only 49% of over 180,000 reviews are positive.
