Steel Assault developers Zenovia Interactive have announced a release date shift for their upcoming retro-cyberpunk run-and-gun title Neon Inferno. Originally slated for an October 2nd launch, the game has now been pushed back to November 20th.
The delay stems from console certification coordination issues and physical distribution contract negotiations. Creative Director Sri Kankanahalli from Zenovia Interactive explained the situation:
"The game is essentially complete, but unfortunately we can't just press a single button to release it. We had to account for the schedules and certification requirements of multiple platform holders and physical distribution companies, plus publisher Retroware's packed fall release lineup. We considered staggered platform releases, but ultimately decided that a simultaneous launch was worth preserving at all costs. In the end, this brief delay will benefit Neon Inferno. With the extra time, we plan to polish the game even further and make it as impressive as possible for you. We might even manage to include new features and content originally planned for post-launch. This will make Neon Inferno even better, and you'll definitely feel the difference."
Neon Inferno delivers classic side-scrolling action across diverse futuristic New York City locations. The story follows an ambitious duo from a rising crime syndicate as they tear through city districts, proving their dominance against rival gangs. Players can tackle the campaign solo or team up with a friend in co-op mode.
Neon Inferno is coming to PC (Steam), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. A playable demo remains available on Steam for those wanting to get a taste of the cyberpunk mayhem.
