Hello Games has released update 6.4 for No Man's Sky, titled The Swarm. The update introduces a universe-scale threat in the form of the Hive of Glass — a colossal alien vessel protected by a swarm of robotic drones.
Players are divided into three factions upon logging in, determined by a personality test. Each faction must cooperate, strategize, and compete to take down the Hive of Glass. The Hive defends itself by deploying swarms of drones, creating massive multi-ship battles in space. The Hive itself is also a direct threat — its aperture opens to fire a weapon capable of destroying entire fleets and potentially even space stations.
Additional content in the update includes the six-piece Direwasp heavy combat armor set, an exclusive Direwasp jetpack, a Direwasp multi-function rifle, a faction rivalry system, the ability to craft a Prismatic Core to weaken the swarm and halt its invasion, planetary surface battles against Hive spawns, and new decorative objects.
No Man's Sky is available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. Hello Games is also currently developing their next game — the fantasy title Light No Fire.
