Obsidian Moved Avowed to February 18

Avowed

Xbox and Obsidian Entertainment didn't wait until Gamescom and announced the postponement of Avowed. The role-playing adventure was supposed to start in the fall of 2024, but now it will be released on February 18, 2025.

"So many games coming! As such, we're moving Avowed to Feb 18, 2025 to give players’ backlogs some breathing room. Stay tuned for more from our games across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda & Xbox Game Studios at gamescom, including our Aug 23 livestream for a look at Avowed", -  the developers shared on Twitter.

The official announcement from the developers is in line with what Tom Warren from The Verge reported a couple of days ago. The studio decided to hold off on the release so as not to jostle with other potential blockbusters during the busy autumn period. For example, several titles related to Microsoft itself are coming out at this time, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. In addition, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is also aiming for the same period - it would be extremely difficult for Avowed to compete with it for the attention of RPG fans.

Avowed will be part of Microsoft's program at Gamescom 2024. There will be no demo, but the developers will organize an exclusive presentation for visitors to the exhibition. Similar demonstrations will also be held for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and the Starfield: Shattered Space add-on. Avowed is being developed for PC (Steam) and Xbox Series, including Game Pass. The list of localizations will be revealed later.
