Path of Exile 2 Developers Detail Upcoming Patch Improvements

Path Of Exile2 Towers Gone

The team at Grinding Gear Games continues steadily working on improvements to the early access version of Path of Exile 2 on the road to full release. A couple of days ago, game director Jonathan Rogers personally shared details about the upcoming patch 0.3.1 changes, which will take effect next week.

The studio is currently working on the major 0.4.0 update, and before launching fresh content, the developers decided to refine gameplay systems based on player feedback. For example:

  • With patch 0.3.1's release, players will no longer need to complete towers to insert modifier tiles into maps. Desired content can now be added directly to each map, though the maximum amount of content per map has been reduced.
  • Tower maps themselves will remain. Completing them rewards players with new tiles and expands Atlas visibility.
  • Developers have prepared several new properties for tiles. These properties are now 2-3 times stronger on average. Note that unique tiles have limited uses.
  • The team reduced the size of 15 maps, including Fort, Canal, Fortress, Grimhaven, and Marshes.
  • Citadel spawn frequency increased by 66%.
  • Monster count on maps reduced by 30% at early endgame. Numbers will scale up as map levels increase, returning to previous levels at tier 15.
  • Bosses now appear on all maps. A separate boss icon above a map now indicates that this particular boss is especially dangerous.
  • Orbs of Alchemy can now be used on magic items. This transforms the magic item into a rare item with 4 new random properties.

Path of Exile 2 is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, official website), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game still has no full release date announced.
