Earlier this year, Playground Games confirmed a fall 2025 release window for the Fable reboot at the Xbox Developer_Direct showcase. Now the studio is addressing speculation that the game could slip to 2027.
The rumor came from insider Jeff Grubb on a recent Giant Bomb podcast, who suggested the launch might shift due to a crowded fall release calendar and direct competition with Grand Theft Auto VI. Playground Games responded briefly on X, stating they look forward to welcoming players to Albion this fall.
Whether that confidence holds remains to be seen. Fable's development has been far from smooth, with the release window shifting multiple times over the years. Whether it avoids yet another delay amid ongoing restructuring at Microsoft Gaming is still an open question.
Fable is coming to PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, including Game Pass.
