The developers of racing game TRAIL OUT have released update 5.0. This patch, which the team worked on for ten months, represents the biggest update in the project's history. According to the developers, it would be easier to list what wasn't changed – that's how extensive this update is.
As a reminder, TRAIL OUT is a racing action game featuring races across various locations around the globe. Players can experience the adrenaline rush of explosions, destruction, and chaotic mayhem during races.
We've compiled the most interesting highlights from the patch notes:
- Content additions: 2 Tokyo city tracks, German autobahn with traffic, new vehicles (Venom V10, Beast MS, Ace Truck with shooting mode), massive destruction events (satellite dish crashes, dam collapses, and more), new character skins, and other additions.
- Gameplay changes: DASH combat mode with gadgets, new car module system, auto-assembly function for junkyard cars, donation system, AI for the protagonist's dog, ability to crawl to the finish line in split-screen, and more Steam achievements.
- Story mode changes (so extensive that developers recommend starting fresh): improved animations, events, and visuals, updated boss races and intro, added FestApp activity feed that reveals in-game lore, alternative ending, reworked "New Game+" mode, updated voice acting in cutscenes, and much more.
- Graphics and optimization improvements: updated glass damage logic, improved game stability and car physics, added 144 fps cap, additional anti-aliasing options (FXAA, TAA, MSAA), and more responsive, smoother UI.
- Additional updates include a revamped Joker roulette mode, fresh intro music for all maps, reworked position and finish detection logic for better accuracy, and more.
The TRAIL OUT developers also announced production of a sequel – releasing in 2028. The second installment will focus on online play and will feature new physics, graphics, an open world, and a story mode with new characters. Meanwhile, the original TRAIL OUT is available on PC (Steam) and Xbox Series.
