The third season of the ninth year of Rainbow Six Siege starts on September 10. In honor of the imminent launch of the Twin Shells operation, the Ubisoft team organized a presentation, during which they talked in more detail about the new type of fighter, fresh universal weapons, and other content of the upcoming season.
Below are the highlights from Ubisoft's material:
- According to R6S creative director Alexander Karpazis, the team heard that users were unhappy with the operation of New Blood. Therefore, the studio has put more effort and resources into the production of the new chapter than ever before. Improvements should be noticeable already in Twin Shells. For example, the anti-cheat and toxicity control systems will be updated. According to the developers, on average, dishonest players have started getting banned 12 hours faster.
- The new agent of Siege will be Curie Galanos, or Skopós. This is not the first appearance of the Greek sniper in the game - the heroine was first introduced in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear in 1999. Skopós with two points of speed and health belongs to the defense team. Due to serious injuries, she herself does not go out on the battlefield, but sends two "armors" named Talos and Colossus in her place. Curie can switch between them at any time.
- Each robot has a new PCX-33 assault rifle, and they can also use a secondary P229 cannon, throw grenades and place proximity sensors. While one "armor" is active, the second hides behind a bulletproof shield and remains something of a means of observation. An active droid cannot be hacked, it does not show up on the IQ scanner and does not suffer from Smoke gas or Fenrir mines, but you can’t heal it for Doc or Thunderbird either — it’s not made of flesh. The ability to quickly switch between robots provides Skopós with high tactical flexibility.
- The developers will correct the balance of Nøkk, Dokkaebi, and Solis. The latter will have its Spec-IO sensor functionality changed. Nøkk's stealth abilities will receive a buff. Now the energy consumption of her gadget is based not on time, but on the use itself. If you remain motionless, the energy will not be spent. Meanwhile, Dokkaebi will start each round without hacking charges. One will appear every 45 seconds. The maximum number of them per round is 2 pieces.
- Drones will be able to temporarily increase their movement speed, which will allow them to retreat faster and collect intelligence.
- After the match, instead of operator cards, an updated screen with 3D models of the skirmish participants will be shown. And the next screen will display all the most important information in a more convenient form on one page. On it, you can see reports on "battlepass" points, rank, and so on. There is also a segment with challenges.
- There will be a “beta” of the Siege Cup, “the most competitive playlist” in which teams of five players will be able to compete for nice rewards every two weeks. All participants of the Siege Cup can earn Competitive Coins currency to get exclusive items each season. At first, the "beta" will start only on PC, since Ubisoft solves problems on this platform much faster than on others. The full launch of the Siege Cup is planned for the fourth season of the ninth year.
- In Versus AI 2.0, it will be possible to play as a defender against an attacking AI squad, which will allow users to memorize the location of positions and hone their overall defense strategy.
- Gamers will be able to enter the shooting range right during matchmaking to practice their shooting accuracy immediately before the battle.
