Recent rumors about upcoming ports of the original Red Dead Redemption for current platforms were confirmed quickly. Just minutes ago, Rockstar staff released a corresponding trailer announcing new versions of the game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, plus iOS and Android mobile devices.
Release is set for December 2, covering both the base game and its Undead Nightmare expansion. As a reminder, Red Dead Redemption currently runs on current-gen consoles via backward compatibility. Native versions for PS5 and Xbox Series will offer smooth 60 fps frame rates, improved image quality, HDR support, and up to 4K resolution.
On Switch 2, developers implemented DLSS and HDR support, Joy-Con controls with mouse-like functionality, and enhanced resolution at 60 fps. Mobile versions will be available in both the App Store and Google Play, with Netflix subscribers able to download them at no additional cost.
Owners of Red Dead Redemption on last-gen consoles can upgrade to the native next-gen version completely free. Additionally, save file transfer functionality is supported. And one more pleasant bonus — at launch, the new versions of Red Dead Redemption will join the PlayStation Plus catalog for both PS5 and PS4.
