Resident Evil 3 Original Edition Coming to GOG

Resident Evil 3

Capcom and GOG have teamed up to bring the original Resident Evil trilogy back. Two parts are already available on the site, and the third will join them in a couple of days.

"As with Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2, we've made every effort to ensure that the GOG version of the third installment is the best possible," the store said. All content from Resident Evil 3 remains intact, so modern gamers will be able to immerse themselves in the same adventure that captivated players in 1999.

Changes were made to the third installment, but they are aimed solely at improving user convenience and compatibility with modern systems.

What was added and fixed:

  • Added compatibility with Windows 10 and 11.
  • Improved DirectX rendering and added more options for it (windowed mode, gamma adjustment, vertical synchronization, etc.).
  • Improved the process of turning on and restarting the graphics engine.
  • Improved subtitles and mouse cursor visibility in videos.
  • Added support for modern controllers, including gamepads from PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, etc.
  • Left the "Mercenaries" mode in the game.

Resident Evil 3 re-release will be released on GOG on September 25 with translation into six languages. The first part appeared in the store at the end of June, and the second at the end of August.
