Back in 2021, Meta announced GTA: San Andreas for virtual reality. Since then, there hasn't been a single gameplay video or even a screenshot, and now the company has confirmed that development has been "paused indefinitely".
Meta reported this under one of the videos on YouTube: "Development of GTA: San Andreas has been paused indefinitely while both companies focus on other projects. We look forward to working with our friends at Rockstar in the future".
There were very few details about San Andreas for VR:
- The game was supposed to be exclusive to the Quest 2 helmet.
- It seems that the VR version was based on the classic San Andreas, and not on San Andreas - The Definitive Edition.
- It was mentioned that the project took several years to produce.
Rockstar Games has only one virtual reality game in its portfolio so far: L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files. According to some reports, San Andreas VR helped create Video Games Deluxe - the same studio that participated in the development of L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files.
