Devolver Digital and Croteam have announced Serious Sam: The Third Encounter, an FPS sequel in early development for PC. The story picks up right after Serious Sam: The Second Encounter and sends Sam to unfamiliar alien worlds to fight Mental’s army.
The developers are going to stick to the series’ classic formula of huge enemy hordes and nonstop arcade action.
Sam will fight off waves of enemies, break through fortified positions, and join large assaults, with battles getting harder as he works his way toward the final showdown. His arsenal mixes new weapons with familiar guns from earlier games. The developers promise explosive firefights where players have to watch their surroundings and react quickly to threats. Along the way, Sam visits strange planets, heavily fortified strongholds, and other hostile places.
The developers haven’t shared details on the story, new enemies, the full weapon lineup, or the game’s technical features yet. Serious Sam: The Third Encounter is in early development, and more information is expected later.
The game is coming to PC through Steam. There’s no release date or price yet. The minimum requirements on Steam are Windows 10 64-bit, a 4-core 2.5 GHz CPU, 8 GB of RAM, a graphics card with 3 GB of VRAM, and DirectX 11.
