Mojang Studios has announced The Sift, the first new dimension coming to Minecraft in more than 14 years. The new realm will join the Overworld, Nether, and End in Java and Bedrock Edition sometime in 2027.
The studio revealed the addition during Minecraft Live on September 26. Mojang showed a brief in-development look at The Sift running in the main game, including one of its new mobs, but has not yet explained how players will enter the dimension or exactly how its mechanics will differ from its appearance in Minecraft Dungeons II.
Players will get their first look at The Sift much sooner. The dimension plays a big part in Minecraft Dungeons II, which launches on September 29, 2026. In the game, rifts can pull players into a colorful realm with souls, unique mobs, hazardous blocks, and rules of its own. The Meadow and Carapace are confirmed areas, and Mojang is keeping the other locations secret until launch.
Minecraft Dungeons II is out September 29 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It will also be on Game Pass and support Xbox Play Anywhere.
