Spiral Up
Games and TinyMo GAMES have announced Splash Divers, a laid-back underwater
exploration game for PC via Steam. No release date has been set, but a playtest
is currently open to join.
The game strips away the pressure mechanics common to diving games — no oxygen counter, no timer, no health bar. Players swim freely through the ocean, take in the light filtering through the water, and explore at their own pace.
The underwater world is populated with sea turtles, whales, tropical fish, and more unusual creatures: lobsters swimming tail-first, crabs sidling along the seafloor, squid vanishing in ink clouds. A built-in camera lets players photograph anything they encounter, filling out a personal encyclopedia of marine life. Rare shells can be collected, and a dive journal — decorated with stickers and mementos from locals — tracks each session.
Social features allow divers from different countries to meet underwater, share collections, take part in events, and exchange stories.
