Square Enix Releases Dragon Quest 7 Remake Demo

Dragon Quest7 Reimagined

With just one month until Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined's release — a full remake of cult JRPG Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past — developers at HEXADRIVE and Square Enix decided to delight fans with a demo for all target platforms.

Demo Details and Bonuses

The trial includes content through the conclusion of Ballymolloy events — the first world the hero team visits. All progress saves and can subsequently transfer to the full version. Demo completion rewards a small bonus: an alternative dress for Maribel.

Full 3D Instead of HD-2D

In contrast with previous remakes (Dragon Quest 3 and Dragon Quest 1 & 2), Square Enix decided to move away from the HD-2D visual style in favor of full isometric 3D. The enhanced Dragon Quest 7 will offer new story content, an improved battle system with accelerated combat pace, and modern convenience features. A new "dual-classing" mechanic is highlighted, allowing selection of two professions simultaneously with free skill combination.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined launches February 5 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
